RLC Endorses Alex Mooney for U.S. House in West Virginia

0

CHARLESTOWN, WV – The Republican Liberty Caucus is pleased to announce the endorsement of Alex Mooney, as the pro-liberty Republican candidate for Congress in West Virginia’s Second Congressional District.

“Alex Mooney has the drive and determination to represent West Virginia values in the US House of Representatives where he will add West Virginia’s voice to those already standing up for individual liberty, limited government and free enterprise,” said RLCWV Chairman Ed Burgess. “The Mooney campaign is primed and ready to defeat the Democratic nominee – it is working hard every day to win this election.”

“Alex Mooney is the Republican candidate in this race who not only holds fast to our core principles, but exemplifies them,” said RLC National Chairman Matt Nye. “He’s precisely the kind of person West Virginia and the nation needs in Washington, and we expect him to be a true leader if elected to Congress.”

“I am honored to receive the Republican Liberty Caucus’s endorsement,” said Alex Mooney. “The RLC has a history of advocating for true constitutional principles. I stand proudly by my record of fighting for the same principles of limited government, individual liberty, and free enterprise.”

“Our basic liberties are being threatened by the Obama administration’s disastrous big-government policies,” said Mooney. “I will fight to repeal Obamacare completely, end burdensome EPA regulations, and stop out of control tax-and-spend policies so that businesses can thrive and West Virginians can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks. I will lead the charge against leaders in both parties whenever they are unwilling to uphold the Constitution and defend our individual rights.”

Mooney, his wife, Grace, and their children reside in Charles Town, West Virginia. Mooney is taking his campaign to defend liberty to every part of West Virginia’s Second Congressional District.

Congressman Amash spoke at the 2011 RLC National Convention and had this to say about the RLC: “In 2005, I wasn’t involved in politics in any substantive way. I had never really thought about running for office. I began looking for organizations that shared the beliefs I had — and that’s when I came across the Republican Liberty Caucus. And, really, it’s what’s started my move toward running for office.”
He is now recognized as one of the most principled members of Congress, passionately defending the principles he and his constituents share while working to reduce the burdens that decades of Big Government has had on us all.
State Representative Bob Genetski represents District 88 in the State House. While Congressman Amash served in the House, Rep. RLC Endorses Dr. Paul Broun for U.S. Senate in Georgia

0

ATHENS, GA – The Republican Liberty Caucus is pleased to announce the endorsement of Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia for US Senate. Broun has served the people of Georgia’s 10th Congressional District since defeating establishment candidate Jim Whitehead in a 2007 special election.

“Dr. Broun was called the ‘accidental Congressman’ after being elected to Congress, but then he shocked the political class again the following year by defeating the Georgia State House Majority Leader in a primary challenge,” RLC-GA Chairman Ben Johnson said. “Paul Broun was easily re-elected because of his limited government, pro-liberty philosophy, and his wins are proof-positive that the Liberty Movement was not just a flash in the pan, but a sustainable grass-roots antidote to big-government Republicanism.”

Congressmen Broun has been staunchly defending liberty for the seven years he’s been in Congress. “While Congressman Broun’s primary opponents try to position themselves as outsiders in the Georgia Senate race, Paul Broun is the real deal,” said RLC Chairman Matt Nye. “Broun hasn’t let Congress change him, but rather, he has helped change Congress.”

Congressman Broun has been a tireless defender of the Tenth Amendment which reserves all but the enumerated powers to the States and to the people.  Broun also understands the purpose of the Second Amendment is to prevent tyranny, and that the Second amendment guarantees law abiding citizens the right to own, carry, and use firearms in a manner which does not infringe on the rights of others. Broun opposes military intervention when Congress has not declared war. Broun also believes the drug war has been a total failure and should be a State’s issue at best.

Dr. Broun’s career as a physician gives him unique insight into our country’s troubled health care system.

“Dr. Broun has opposed Obamacare and authored the only truly free market healthcare reform alternative offered in Congress: the Patient Option Act, HR 2900,” said RLC-GA Chairman Ben Johnson. “He knows another bloated government bureaucracy will be costly and ineffective and do nothing to improve access or delivery of healthcare to the American people.”

“Representative Broun has never voted to raise taxes, nor has he ever voted for a bailout or ‘stimulus’ package,” Nye said. “He authored the strongest Balanced Budget Amendment, and he became the lead sponsor of Audit the Fed after Ron Paul’s retirement from Congress. Broun also favors a consumption based tax which would eliminate the IRS.”

Congressman Paul Broun is a veteran, having served in the US Navy as a medical officer.  He makes his home in Athens, Georgia with his wife Niki.  He has two grown daughters, a son and two grandchildren.

RLC Endorses Rep. Justin Amash for third term in U.S. House

0

WASHINGTON, D.C. -The Republican Liberty Caucus is pleased to announce the endorsement of Congressman Justin Amash for a third term in Michigan’s 3rd congressional district.  This is the third consecutive RLC endorsement for Amash, who serves as Chair of the House Liberty Caucus.

“The RLC is extremely proud of Congressman Amash and thrilled to endorse him yet again,” said RLC Chairman Matt Nye. “Justin Amash embodies everything the RLC stands for and has been a fearless leader in the House fighting tirelessly to reduce the size and scope of government, preserve the privacy rights of citizens and expand individual liberty.”

Representative Amash serves diligently on a number of committees including the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the US Congress Joint Economic Committee.  Amash was removed from the Budget Committee by House leadership in December 2012 after arguing to balance the budget in 10 years instead of 35.

“Removing Amash from that committee was a slap in the face to fiscal conservatives by leadership,” explained Nye.  “Amash provided a fiscally sound solution that is desperately needed, and instead of being rewarded for standing on principle and fighting to protect our children’s futures he was punished for it.”

RLCMI Board Member Dr. Eric Larson echoes Nye’s sentiments. “It is truly a privilege to have Justin Amash as my representative in Congress. He explains every one of his votes in detail which makes it easy to hold him accountable and see that he consistently votes for liberty, free markets, and limited government”, said Larson.

Amash received his bachelor’s degree with High Honors in Economics from the University of Michigan and his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.  He lives in Cascade Charter Township with his wife Kara,  a former elementary school teacher. Justin and Kara have three children.

RLC Endorses David Clements for U.S. Senate in New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, NM – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) is pleased to announce the endorsement of  David Clements for United States Senate in New Mexico. Clements is an attorney and former prosecutor from Las Cruces, New Mexico.

“David Clements is the clear choice for New Mexico voters to serve them in the United States Senate,” said RLC National Chairman Matt Nye. “David has spent his career upholding the Constitution and is committed to continuing that dedication in the U.S. Senate. As government spending and overreach climbs to unprecedented levels, we need more elected officials who will stand up and fight for the principles they are sworn to uphold and protect.”

Clements has already battled against a better funded and well known primary opponent. He shocked National political insiders after taking nearly half of the available delegates at the state’s Pre-Primary Convention in March, and continues to build momentum heading into the June 3rd Republican Primary. The winner of the Primary will go on to face Democratic Senator Tom Udall in November’s general election.

“Tom Udall is vulnerable in New Mexico,” said Nye. “He is one of only a few Democrats still advocating for the implementation of Obamacare, and is more concerned with playing partisan politics in Washington than ensuring the rights and liberties of the people of New Mexico.”

New Mexico RLC Chairman, Aaron Henry Diaz, commented, “David is offering an exciting choice to New Mexico voters. Not only is he attracting traditional Republicans with his message of economic freedom, young voters are energized to elect a Senator who will fight for their privacy rights in Washington D.C.

Youth for Clements chapters have begun operations at many of the major universities in New Mexico, showing Clements’ appeal to young voters reaches across the state, and is reminiscent of those efforts levied by Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul in their inaugural campaigns for Senate.

David and his wife, Erin, reside in Las Cruces, New Mexico with their 3 year-old son Roland.

RLC Endorses Col. Rob Maness for U.S. Senate in Louisiana

0

MADISONVILLE, LA – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has unanimously endorsed Col. Rob Maness (ret.) in the Louisiana race for United States Senate.

“We’re pleased that Colonel Maness is willing to continue his service to our country with his candidacy for the U.S. Senate,” said RLC National Chair Matt Nye. “The Colonel is dedicated to restoring the individual rights of Americans. This is no small task with the unprecedented overreach we’re seeing by a federal government that infringes on our rights and interferes in our lives in ways that would shock the founders of this country.”

Maness emerged from the field of candidates as the strongest advocate for individual liberty, Constitutionally limited government and free market solutions, and the best prepared to defeat incumbent Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu.

“Sen. Landrieu originally embraced Obamacare, but is now running away from it because it’s both a functional and political nightmare,” said Nye. “As a 32-year veteran of the Air Force, Col. Maness knows firsthand the importance of fighting for what is right and staying with it. Louisiana deserves a senator who will consistently fight to protect their rights, not change positions on life and death issues when it’s politically expedient to do so.”

With every revelation of another government program chipping away at personal freedom and a president prepared to rule by executive order, Maness scored points with his insistence to restore the checks and balances of power as stated in the Constitution. As RLC Louisiana State Coordinator Parker G. Ward put it, “Rob Maness is the embodiment of liberty. He took an oath, while in the military, to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. I believe he will do just that in the Senate.”

Maness and his wife, Cindy, have five children, two of whom are currently serving in the military, and reside in Madisonville, Louisiana.

RLC Endorses Milton Wolf for U.S. Senate in Kansas

0

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has announced its endorsement of Dr. Milton Wolf for the U.S. Senate in Kansas. Wolf is a medical doctor, and is the second cousin of President Obama.

“The RLC is excited to endorse Dr. Wolf,” said Matt Nye, Republican Liberty Caucus National Chairman. “With his intimate knowledge of our medical system Dr. Wolf brings much needed insight to the table, and, as is the case with all RLC endorsees, he is a staunch opponent to the ongoing overreach of government in our lives.”

The RLC endorsement of Wolf was made through a two stage process. The Republican Liberty Caucus of Kansas screened Dr. Wolf’s candidacy first, and then recommended endorsement to the RLC National Board.

“Dr. Wolf is already using his voice to effect change in government,” said Dave Thomas, RLC of Kansas Chair in his endorsement recommendation. “His commitment to the liberty movement is exactly what we need in our next U.S. Senator. Dr. Wolf will fight the broad overreaches by our federal government and the result will be more liberty for all Kansans.”

Dr. Wolf is challenging incumbent Senator Pat Roberts for the Republican nomination. Roberts is finishing his third term in the Senate, and according to Nye, has been moving further away from real conservative principles with each passing year.

“It’s time for some new blood that will stand for the traditional conservative values of limited government, free enterprise and personal responsibility ALL of the time,” said Nye. “The RLC believes Dr. Wolf is exactly what the doctor ordered.”

RLC Endorses Bevin in Kentucky US Senate Race

0

LOUISVILLE, KY – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has unanimously endorsed Matt Bevin in the Kentucky GOP primary for United States Senate.

“It is time that the career professional politicians more interested in being  Washington insiders step aside for new voices who will represent their constituents’ desire for lower taxes and less government interference in their family affairs and their personal lives,” said RLC National Chair Matt Nye.

Nye said it was a thorough process to compare the incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell and Matt Bevin, and the RLC deliberates carefully when the incumbent is a Republican.

“But in the end, it was clear that Matt Bevin, unlike the incumbent, will stand up for individual liberty, limited government and Constitutional principles.  He will hold Washington accountable for its actions that impact the lives of hard-working citizens who know better than government how to manage their lives,” Nye said.

Nye noted that Bevin is a successful entrepreneur who has managed financial and asset funds, including time as Vice President of Putnam Investments, and who has run a successful business that has created jobs in the private sector.

“Unlike Senator McConnell, who voted to increase the debt limit nine times adding $6.7 trillion to the national debt and who voted to expand government spending, Matt Bevin assures us that he will not support an increase in the debt limit unless Congress passes a binding plan to balance the federal budget within ten years,” Nye said.

Noting that Liberty Republicans are concerned about the expanse of government powers, Nye said Bevin scored well with RLC members because he has promised to protect Constitutional freedoms, roll back the Patriot Act and to limit the government’s ability to engage in unconstitutional surveillance of American citizens.

“We believe that Matt Bevin is the best hope for the citizens of Kentucky to be secure without government prying into their private lives,” Nye said.

Bevin resides in Louisville with his wife, Glenna, and their 9 children.

RLC Endorses Bright for US Senate

0

CHARLESTON, SC — The Republican Liberty Caucus today announced its endorsement of Sen. Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg, SC) for US Senate in the seat currently held by US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina). This marks the first significant national endorsement in this particular race.

“Sen. Lee Bright is a friend of liberty who knows the issues that South Carolinians care about. As businessman who understands all too well the difficult economic times, Lee Bright stands for economic liberty,” said RLC-SC Chairman Scott Pearson. “As a man of faith, he stands for religious liberty; and as a man of great personal character, he stands for personal liberty. Unlike the incumbent, he brings a principled message of individual freedom that will unify, rather than divide, the Republican majority.”

The Republican Liberty Caucus endorses candidates dedicated to the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free markets. In the case of Senator Bright, he has a stellar record in the South Carolina Senate advocating for government reform, respecting the tenth amendment, significant spending cuts and protecting the rights of gun owners.

“Incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham represents everything that is wrong with both the Republican Party and Washington DC, and the outcome of the South Carolina Senate race will be a major factor in determining the future of both,” said RLC National Chairman Matt Nye. “As a proven, principled advocate of individual rights, limited government and free enterprise, Lee Bright offers the citizens of South Carolina a true alternative to the status quo. Bright possesses both the skills and world view we need to turn Washington, and the country, around.”

Lee Bright has represented Spartanburg in the South Carolina Senate since 2008. A lifelong South Carolinian, he resides in Roebuck with his wife, Amy and two children, Kaylee and Kendyl.
