Delegate Deadline: 2/26

As we recently announced, our national convention is set to be held this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend at the Rosen Centre in Orlando Florida. Per RLC bylaws, any and all members of the Republican Liberty Caucus are automatically permitted to be delegates representing their respective states (as long as it is already chartered) but must have their dues paid at least 90 days before the convention takes place. That deadline is approaching THIS SUNDAY, February 26th, so it is urgent that you join or renew your membership NOW.

Today is Bill of Rights Day. So it’s an appropriate time to consider the state of our constitutional safeguards.

Let’s consider each amendment in turn.

The First Amendment says that “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech.” Government officials, however, have insisted that they can gag recipients of “national security letters” and censor broadcast ads in the name of campaign finance reform and arrest people for simply distributing pamphlets on a sidewalk.

Liberty Rights vs. Welfare Rights

By Marven Goodman
A right is a principle that specifies something which an individual should be free to have or do. A right is an entitlement, something you possess free and clear, something you can exercise without asking anyone's permission.

Our country was founded on the principle that individuals possess the "inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Along with the right to property, which the Founding Fathers also regarded as a fundamental right.
