RLC Endorses John Mills for Florida’s 1st Congressional District

John Mills

NAVARRE, FL – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has endorsed John Mills for Florida’s 1st Congressional District.

Mills is a retired U. S. Navy pilot with nearly 40 years combined uniform and civilian service – he knows how to handle crisis situations quickly and effectively.

“America is in a crisis situation, and Mills is prepared to face our challenges head on,” said Matt Nye, RLC National Chairman. “We are proud to endorse John in this race because he is a fighter, and we know he will follow through on this promises.”

The first Congressional district has more veterans than any other district in the country.

“Despite President Trump’s valiant efforts to reform the Veterans Administration, our veterans still don’t receive the level of care they should,” said Nye. “As a veteran himself, John will fight to ensure our veterans receive the assistance they so justly deserve.”

Mills believes in the philosophy of liberty and freedom as presented in the Declaration of Independence, and the enumerated powers of the Federal government as set forth in the Constitution. He thinks the current size of the federal government must be greatly reduced to fall within its Constitutional limitations.

“John is a staunch believer in the framework of limited government outlined by the US Constitution,” Nye said. “He has taken on numerous leadership roles in our organizations by building his local charter, organizing Second Amendment Rallies and serving on both our state and national boards.”

RLC endorsements are given only to those who advocate in accordance with the organization’s principles of individual rights, limited government, and free markets.

RLC Endorses Willie J Montague for Florida’s 10th Congressional District

Willie Montague

ORLANDO, FL – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has endorsed Willie J Montague for Florida’s 10th Congressional District. Montague is a pastor and has founded multiple nonprofit organizations whose focus is to empower and mentor young men between the ages of 18-25 seeking a second chance at life.

“Willie has worked on the front lines for 16 years to provide young men a second chance at a better life,” said Nye. “He has witnessed first-hand the destruction caused by the failed policies of the left, and he wants to see it stopped.”

Montague also cites second amendment rights, advocating for job creation, tax reform, market-based health care reform, and standing firm to uphold legal immigration as reasons for running. If elected, Montague says he will “go to Washington, D.C. to fight for limited government and a return to the constitutional role of governance.”

“Willie shares our view that elected officials should be citizen legislators, along with our philosophy of what constitutes good governance”, Nye said. “We are proud to support him in his bid for Florida’s 10th Congressional District.”

Candidates seeking endorsement by the RLC are rigorously vetted, and endorsements are given only to those who show strict adherence to the organization’s principles of individual rights, limited government, and free markets.

Kat Cammack

GAINESVILLE, FL – The Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC) has endorsed Kat Cammack for Florida’s 3rd Congressional District.

Cammack is a small business owner, an alumnus of the United States Naval War College, and the longtime former Deputy Chief of Staff and Campaign Manager to Congressman Ted Yoho (R, FL-03). She is competing in the crowded Florida 3rd Congressional Republican primary race for the soon to be vacated seat of Congressman Ted Yoho.

Cammack stood firm alongside President Trump in 2016 to fight for the America First agenda and against the threat of socialism.

“The masks have come off, and the Socialists are now operating in broad daylight in Washington, D.C.,” said National RLC Chairman Matt Nye. “We are proud to endorse Kat in this race because we know she will fight for our values in Congress.”

Cammack is a concealed carry permit holder and a board member for the Alachua County Friends of NRA. In addition to her desire for limited government, she is firmly committed to protecting our right to keep and bear arms.

“The founders understood the right to bear arms was crucial to the survival of our nation,” said Nye. “As we watch events unfold in the wake of COVID-19 and the death of George Floyd, it is more important than ever we have members of Congress that will fight to preserve this precious right.”

RLC endorsements are given only to those who advocate in accordance with the organization’s principles of individual rights, limited government, and free markets.

RLC Opposes Dem Sponsored H.R. 4710 Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Bill

Prescription Drug Graphic

The Republican Liberty Caucus has issued a statement in opposition to H.R. 4710 “Pharmaceutical Independence Long-Term Readiness Readiness Reform Act” by Representative John Garamendi, D-CA-3.

Forcibly localizing this supply chain would be a substantial undertaking which would require finding new sourcing in the U.S. If there is no existing alternative, it would be a long process to set up an alternative and lead to higher prices and reduced access.

This legislation, if passed, would place unnecessary sourcing requirements on medicines and medical inputs purchased with federal dollars and will disrupt existing supply chains, invite retaliatory actions from trading partners, and threaten timely access to medicines.

During this unprecedented health crisis, a Buy American policy could even threaten our ability to adequately respond to those in medical need because of the pandemic.

We urge Congress to reject any Buy American policy on medicines. This protectionist proposal has no place in our healthcare system and will upend complex and efficient supply chains, leading to higher prices, threatening access to medicines, and opening the U.S. to retaliatory measures from other countries. Increasing diversity in the supply chain should be encouraged. However, mandating production in America is the wrong way to do this.

Instead, Congress should pass legislation to attract more advanced domestic manufacturing by offering competitive incentives. Offering more incentives would help firms construct advanced manufacturing facilities in the USA and encourage the use of new technologies.

RLC Issues Statement of Support for Amash’s Ending Qualified Immunity Act

Justin Amash on Steps

MELBOURNE, FL – The death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minnesota police officer last week is another in a series of horrific examples where unarmed citizens – of all races and ethnicities – have died at the hands of police even after being subdued or while complying with their orders.

While race may play a troubling role in some of these incidents, this pattern of behavior is rooted in a lack of accountability. We believe the doctrine created by the Supreme Court known as “qualified immunity” is a root cause of the rise in police misconduct and incidents like the death of Mr. Floyd.

Under qualified immunity, which began in 1967, police are immune from liability unless the person whose rights they violated can show there is a previous case in the same jurisdiction, involving the exact same facts, in which a court deemed the actions to be a constitutional violation.

This is a perverse and, except in the rarest of cases, unattainable bar. By effectively immunizing police officers from liability, even when their actions are clearly unconstitutional – and in the case of Mr. Floyd, just plain heinous – qualified immunity insulates police from the consequences of violating the rights of the citizens they have sworn to serve.

We support the brave police officers who protect our communities, and we believe action is required to restore the relationship between the police and the citizens. We implore members of the US House and Senate to support the Ending Qualified Immunity Act sponsored by Rep. Justin Amash so we can enact the reforms necessary to prevent tragedies like the cruel and senseless death of George Floyd.

Barbershop in Alabama defies cease & desist order; receives $500 fine

0

Joel Edwards, a barber in Mobile, Alabama decided to say “enough is enough” and safely reopened his shop in defiance of the State’s “Stay-at-Home” order. After weeks of being shutdown, he could no longer afford to obey the tyrannical orders.

He and his partners thoroughly sanitized the shop and took appropriate measures to ensure the health and safety of their customers.

And of course, the customers who came in did so voluntarily – they chose to accept whatever risk there may be and patronize Mr. Edward’s business.

So what happened?

The City of Mobile’s Public Safety Director James Barber walked into the store and threatened to arrest Mr. Edwards and charge him with violating the governor’s order… for giving haircuts!

Mr. Edwards was forced with an impossible choice: face economic ruin or go to jail.

That is the same choice countless Americans are faced with right now.

If we don’t act now, we may never recover. That’s why the Republican Liberty Caucus is asking you to do the following:

  • Sign our petition to governors across the country demanding they End the ‘Emergency’ Power Grabs and #ReOpenAmerica.
  • Share this post with other patriots who want to fight this tyranny.
  • Call your elected officials and demand they reopen our country!

Please join us as we fight to #ReOpenAmerica and End the ‘Emergency’ Power Grabs by doing the three things above.

And once you have done those things, please chip in $50 or $25 to the Republican Liberty Caucus so we can mobilize as many patriots as possible to get our country back to work.

Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida Announces Gun Rights Preservation Tour Across Florida

0
Bob White

Bob White, Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida, has announced a state-wide schedule of “Gun Rights Preservation Forums” to be convened between now and through January, to coincide with the opening month of the Florida legislative session.

The Florida Legislature is considering gun control legislation, such as Universal Background Checks and an expansion of the recently enacted Red Flag Law. Other assaults on the right to keep and bear arms in Florida are coming from organizations like BAWN (Ban Assault Weapons Now) that are collecting signatures to get an amendment to the Florida Constitution on the ballot next November that would ban semi-automatic firearms that they erroneously refer to as “assault weapons”.

“The time is now to push back hard against the Gun Grabbers in Tallahassee and the BAWN (ban assault weapons now) crowd” said White. “We have six of these local forums on the books already with at least six more in the planning stages. Each local forum will have multiple co-sponsors including our local RLC chapters, other local patriot organizations, and local gun shops, ranges and manufacturers. We’re thankful to have Florida Gun Rights as a co-sponsor of the statewide tour.”

The purpose of these forums it to:

  • To push back against the narrative being pushed by the left for more gun control.
  • To make the case for more gun freedom and rolling back the onerous provisions of SB 7026.
  • To communicate the threats emanating from the Florida Senate and the Constitutional Amendment ballot initiative being pushed by BAWN (Ban Assault Weapons Now).
  • To send attendees home with action items and talking points for phone calls and emails to their legislators.

Any statewide gun rights organizations or local patriot groups or other organizations interested in being part of the tour are encouraged to email White directly at rwhite345@hotmail.com.  “Join us and our legislative and legal experts to learn how we can fight back to protect our gun rights”.
